Tue Nov 26 23:15:45 UTC 2024: ## PSG Owner Demands New Stadium: “Otherwise We’re Dead”
**PARIS, FRANCE** – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has issued a stark warning, stating that the club needs a new, larger stadium within three to four years or it will fall behind its European rivals. Speaking at the inauguration of PSG’s new training center, Al-Khelaifi expressed his frustration with the club’s current home, the Parc des Princes, whose 48,000 capacity is insufficient for the club’s ambitions.
“I really like the Parc, everyone does. But everyone in Europe has stadiums with 80,000, 90,000 seats… We need it, otherwise we’re dead,” Al-Khelaifi told French radio. He cited the city’s lack of cooperation as a major obstacle, stating, “We are in France, but also in Europe. The city does not give us a choice.”
PSG has made several unsuccessful attempts to purchase the Parc des Princes from the city of Paris. Al-Khelaifi confirmed that the club is exploring alternative options for a new stadium, aiming for a decision by early 2025. The new stadium, according to Al-Khelaifi, is crucial for PSG to remain competitive on the European stage. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that the club “has no time to lose.”
