**New Delhi** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Constitution Day, commemorating the 75th anniversary of India’s Constitution and highlighting the country’s significant progress over the past decade. Speaking at a ceremony at the Supreme Court, the PM paid tribute to the Constitution’s framers and emphasized its dynamic nature, allowing for adaptation to evolving times.
Modi acknowledged the challenges faced by India throughout its history, including the Emergency, stating that the Constitution had consistently provided solutions. He specifically noted the recent implementation of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir, marking the first Constitution Day celebration in the region.
The PM’s address focused heavily on the government’s achievements in improving the lives of ordinary citizens. He cited the expansion of banking access to over 53 crore Indians, the provision of housing to 4 crore homeless individuals, and the distribution of free gas connections to over 10 crore women. Significant strides in providing access to clean drinking water and healthcare were also highlighted, with over 12 crore households now receiving tap water and universal healthcare access for the poor and elderly.
Modi also underscored initiatives aimed at enhancing ease of living, such as digital life certificates for senior citizens and the streamlining of judicial processes through a new judicial code. He mentioned the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam to boost women’s political participation and measures to support the differently-abled and the third gender.
The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and efficient project management, citing the PRAGATI platform for monitoring and expediting projects. He also highlighted the success of the Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks programs in driving development in previously backward regions. The expansion of electricity access, improved internet connectivity, and the implementation of the PM Svamitva Yojana for land record digitization were also mentioned as key achievements.
