**Mumbai, India** – Mahindra has launched its highly anticipated all-electric SUV, the XEV 9e, in the Indian market. Priced at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai), the XEV 9e boasts a striking design, a range of advanced features, and impressive performance, setting a new benchmark in the Indian EV segment. Deliveries are slated to begin in February 2025.
The XEV 9e, unlike initial speculation, distinguishes itself from the XUV700 with a unique design. Its front fascia features a distinctive triangular headlamp cluster flanked by LED DRLs that stretch across the vehicle’s width, topped by Mahindra’s new logo. A sleek, unbroken line flows from the front to the rear, culminating in a coupe-like silhouette and a dipping roofline. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with a contemporary design. Measuring 4,789 mm in length, it offers a generous 207 mm ground clearance, a 195L frunk, and a 663L boot.
Inside, the spacious cabin features a technologically advanced three-screen setup spanning 110 cm of the dashboard, complemented by a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. A total of five screens enhance the in-car experience. Luxury and convenience features abound, including an air purifier, a UV-blocking sunroof, a Harman Kardon Dolby Atmos sound system, a head-up display with augmented reality, 5G connectivity, integrated Amazon Alexa, cooled console, 60:40 split rear seats, and adjustable steering.
Safety is paramount, with the XEV 9e offering Level 2+ ADAS features, Secure360 vehicle monitoring, six airbags, electronic parking brake, TPMS, and a driver drowsiness system.
Powering the XEV 9e is a choice of two powertrains. The top-spec variant utilizes a 79 kWh battery pack delivering an ARAI-certified range of 659 km (with a real-world range exceeding 500 km). This battery powers a 286 bhp motor, propelling the SUV from 0-100 kmph in 6.8 seconds. A less powerful 231 hp variant with a 59 kWh battery pack is also available. Charging is facilitated by a 140 kW DC fast charger.
The Mahindra XEV 9e represents a significant step forward for the Indian EV market, offering a compelling blend of style, technology, and performance. The upcoming launch is expected to generate considerable excitement among environmentally conscious consumers seeking a premium electric SUV experience.
