**Mumbai, November 26, 2024** – Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appealed to his party workers to refrain from large-scale gatherings in Mumbai to demonstrate their support. This follows the Mahayuti alliance’s landslide victory in the recent state assembly elections, where they secured 230 out of 288 seats. While the Shiv Sena is reportedly pushing for Shinde’s continued leadership, the CM’s plea on X (formerly Twitter) emphasizes maintaining unity within the winning coalition.
In his post, Shinde expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support but urged against any mass demonstrations at his residence or elsewhere. He stressed the continued strength and unity of the Mahayuti alliance, highlighting their collaborative victory and commitment to a prosperous Maharashtra. The BJP emerged as the single largest party within the alliance, winning 132 seats. The election results, announced on November 23rd, mark an unprecedented sweep for the Mahayuti, unseen in the state since the 1980s.
