**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia** – Rishabh Pant has created history, becoming the most expensive player ever sold in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The wicketkeeper-batter was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a staggering Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah.

This record-breaking bid overshadowed LSG’s other significant acquisitions, including South African duo David Miller (Rs 7.5 crore) and Aiden Markram (Rs 2 crore), along with Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and Indian pacer Avesh Khan.

The franchise had previously retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Agarwal, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni. However, they notably opted against retaining their former captain, KL Rahul. LSG enters the 2025 season with a remaining purse of just Rs 10 lakh. The team also added several other players through the auction, including Shamar Joseph and Rajvardhan Hangargekar.
