NEW DELHI – Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today unveiled its first electric scooters for the Indian market: the Activa e: and the QC1. This marks a significant step in Honda’s global strategy to launch 30 electric vehicles by 2050 and achieve carbon neutrality across its product lines by 2050. The Activa e: and QC1 are the company’s 12th and 13th EVs globally.
The Activa e:, a stylish reimagining of Honda’s popular Activa scooter, features a swappable dual 1.5 kWh battery system offering a claimed range of 102 km. Its 4.2 kW (5.6 bhp) motor can boost to 6.0 kW (8 bhp), and it offers three riding modes: Standard, Sport, and Econ.
In contrast, the QC1, launching in Spring 2025, is designed for shorter commutes. This model utilizes a fixed 1.5 kWh battery and a dedicated charger, delivering a range of 80 km. Its 1.2 kW (1.6 bhp) motor can reach a peak of 1.8 kW (2.4 bhp). The QC1 includes a 5-inch LCD instrument panel and features like under-seat storage and a USB Type-C charging port.
Both scooters share some design elements, particularly in the apron and side panels, but differ in their headlamp designs and powertrain configurations. The Activa e: boasts a more minimalist aesthetic, including LED DRLs, while the QC1 adopts a slightly different headlight design.
The launch of these electric scooters underscores Honda’s commitment to the Indian EV market and its broader global electrification goals. The company aims to expand its electric motorcycle offerings in the future.
