**Bengaluru, India** – Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially launched its foray into the electric two-wheeler segment with the unveiling of two new electric scooters: the Activa E and the Activa QC1. Both models are slated for a 2025 launch, with bookings opening January 1st, 2025, and deliveries commencing in February 2025. Pricing will be announced in January 2025.
Initially, these scooters will be available only in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Manufactured at HMSI’s Karnataka facility, the scooters cater to different market needs. The Activa E is designed for both India and other developing markets, while the Activa QC1 is specifically tailored to Indian road conditions.
The Activa E boasts a removable dual-battery setup for added charging convenience, LED combination lights (front and rear), and disc brakes. It features a Bluetooth-enabled TFT digital instrument console with navigation, music controls, and call/SMS alerts. The Activa QC1, conversely, features high-mounted LED DRLs, drum brakes, and a simpler LCD instrument panel. Both models offer three riding modes: Standard, Sport, and Economy.
Powering the Activa E is a 4.2 kW (5.6 bhp) motor, paired with a dual 1.5 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 102 km on a single charge and a top speed of 80 kmph. The Activa QC1, equipped with a single 1.5 kWh battery, offers a claimed range of 80 km and a top speed of 50 kmph.
Analysts predict pricing between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.30 lakh. The success of these new models will depend on their competitiveness within the existing electric scooter market.
