Wed Nov 27 16:29:34 UTC 2024: ## Gujarat Batsman Shatters Indian T20 Century Record

**Indore, India** – Gujarat’s Urvil Patel etched his name in Indian cricket history on Wednesday, smashing the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian batsman. The 26-year-old achieved the feat in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Tripura, reaching the milestone in a breathtaking 28 balls.

Patel’s whirlwind innings, which included seven fours and twelve sixes, ultimately saw him finish unbeaten on 113 runs off 35 balls. This helped Gujarat chase down Tripura’s 156-run target in a mere 10.2 overs. His performance eclipsed the previous Indian record held by Rishabh Pant, who reached a century in 32 balls.

While Patel’s achievement is the fastest by an Indian, it falls just short of the overall world record, currently held by Estonian batsman Sahil Chauhan, who scored a century in 27 balls. Nevertheless, Patel’s stunning display is a testament to his explosive batting prowess.

Despite being part of the Gujarat Titans IPL squad in 2023, Patel didn’t feature in any matches. This record-breaking performance, however, is sure to propel him into the spotlight and solidify his place as a rising star in Indian T20 cricket.
