Wed Nov 27 16:29:13 UTC 2024: ## Adani Group Stocks Surge Despite US Allegations and Moody’s Downgrade
**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Adani Group stocks experienced a dramatic rebound today, soaring after recent steep declines triggered by allegations in the United States. Several Adani companies hit their upper circuits, with Adani Power climbing as much as 20%, Adani Green Energy gaining 10%, and Adani Enterprises rising over 10%. Adani Total Gas also surged by 20%. This surge added ₹1.22 lakh crore (approximately $14.7 billion USD) to the group’s market capitalization, bringing the total to ₹12.61 lakh crore (approximately $152 billion USD) from ₹11.39 lakh crore (approximately $137 billion USD) the previous day.
The sharp increase follows a statement from Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) clarifying that Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani, and Vineet Jain have not been accused of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) in connection with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) civil complaint.
This rally comes despite Moody’s Investors Service downgrading its outlook for seven Adani Group entities, including Adani Green Energy, Adani Ports, and Adani Transmission, from stable to negative on Tuesday.
Jash Arora, Managing Director and Promoter of Master Trust Group, commented on the situation, advising investors to exercise caution. While acknowledging the long-term potential of the Adani Group, he stressed the need for careful monitoring of ongoing court cases and the group’s financial health before making any investment decisions. Arora suggested that short-term investors consider their risk tolerance, potentially reducing exposure or booking losses if the recent downgrades significantly impact their risk-reward assessment. Long-term investors might see this dip as a buying opportunity, but should ensure it aligns with their risk profile.
