Wed Nov 27 10:27:21 UTC 2024: **CPI Demands Stringent Action Against Adani Amidst US Corruption Case**
Hyderabad, November 24: CPI National Secretary K. Narayana has demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged political and financial corruption involving Adani Group, calling it a culmination of irregularities. He urged stringent action against Adani and those responsible.
Speaking from the US, where he is currently traveling, Narayana released a video statement on Sunday. He highlighted the recent filing of a bribery case against Adani in a New York court, contrasting the swift handling of such financial crimes in the US with the perceived delays in India.
Narayana criticized the previous Andhra Pradesh government, alleging it signed deals involving ₹1,750 crore in bribes, ultimately burdening the public with a loss of ₹1 lakh crore. He expressed concern over the alleged close ties between Adani, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Prime Minister Modi, suggesting that Modi’s support for Adani could hinder the investigation.
He questioned whether the US government would seriously pursue the case given Modi’s alleged proximity to Adani, expressing hope that the US would take action and that Modi would not interfere. He called for a large-scale public movement to ensure a speedy resolution to the case. The connection between the alleged corruption in Andhra Pradesh and the US-based case has raised serious concerns, he added, questioning the cost borne by the people of Andhra Pradesh due to this alleged ₹1,750 crore scam.
