Wed Nov 27 06:28:19 UTC 2024: ## Honda to Electrify Indian Two-Wheeler Market with Activa Electric Launch
**New Delhi, India –** Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is set to make its foray into the Indian electric two-wheeler market with the launch of its first EV on November 27th, 2024. The highly anticipated vehicle, believed to be named the Activa Electric, will compete with established models like the TVS iQube, Hero Vida, Ather 450X, Ola S1, and Bajaj Chetak.
Ahead of the launch, Honda has released several teasers hinting at the scooter’s design and features. While specific details remain scarce, teasers reveal an integrated headlight design featuring the Honda logo and a design potentially similar to the company’s global CUV-e model. The scooter is expected to feature a long and wide seat, a swappable battery setup with possibly two battery packs under the seat (potentially compromising under-seat storage), and a compact charger located near the footboard.
Two variants are anticipated, differing primarily in their digital instrument clusters. A lower variant will likely feature a TFT display, while a higher-end model will boast a multi-color screen displaying key information such as range, battery status, speed, and riding mode. Additional features like turn-by-turn navigation, music control, and connectivity are also rumored.
Based on teasers, the Activa Electric is expected to offer a claimed range of 104 km or more, likely powered by a 2.5 to 2.8 kWh battery pack and a swingarm-mounted electric motor. Pricing is yet to be announced but is speculated to be around ₹1 lakh (approximately $12,000 USD), positioning it competitively within the market. Honda’s entry into the electric scooter segment marks a significant development in India’s rapidly growing EV landscape.
