Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh – Five postgraduate medical students from Saifai Medical College perished in a devastating road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway early this morning. The accident occurred around 4:00 AM near Tirwa, Kannauj, when the Scorpio they were traveling in collided with a truck.

The six occupants of the Scorpio, all reportedly returning to Saifai after attending a wedding in Lucknow, were traveling on the expressway when their vehicle veered off course, striking the divider before entering the opposing lane and colliding with an oncoming truck. The impact was so severe that the Scorpio was extensively damaged.

Five of the occupants – Aniruddha Verma (Agra), Santosh Kumar Maurya (Saifai), Arun Kumar (Kannauj), and two others – died at the scene. One survivor, Jayveer Singh (Muradabad), sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Saifai Medical College.

Dr. C.P. Pal, principal of Tirwa Medical College, confirmed that the six individuals were brought to the college, where five were pronounced dead. The bodies have been transferred to the mortuary, and police have notified their families and the Saifai Medical College administration. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
