**Tehran, Iran** – The Iranian Meteorological Organization (IMO) has issued a warning urging citizens to avoid travel to Gilan and western Mazandaran provinces on Wednesday due to anticipated heavy rainfall and snowfall. Sadegh Ziaian, head of the National Forecasting Center, stated that a significant weather system will bring widespread rainfall across several provinces, beginning Tuesday evening.
Ziaian highlighted the risk of severe downpours in parts of Lorestan, northern Khuzestan, southern Ilam, and western Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces on Tuesday and Wednesday. He emphasized the danger of heavy rainfall and snowfall in northern Fars, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, northern Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces on Wednesday, specifically advising against travel to Gilan and western Mazandaran.
Rain is expected to continue on Thursday in several provinces, including Kurdistan, Mazandaran, Golestan, North Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, South Khorasan, Fars, parts of Kerman, and the heights of Hormozgan. Heavy rainfall is predicted for Kurdistan and parts of Razavi and South Khorasan provinces on Thursday. Temperatures across the country are expected to drop by 2 to 6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
