Tue Nov 26 13:09:00 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Thrash Zimbabwe in ODI Thriller, Ayub Blasts Record-Breaking Century

**Bulawayo, Zimbabwe –** Saim Ayub smashed a breathtaking century, the joint third-fastest ODI hundred by a Pakistani batsman, powering Pakistan to a resounding 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the second ODI on Tuesday. The win levels the three-match series at 1-1 after Pakistan’s loss in the opening encounter.

Ayub’s whirlwind 113 off just 62 balls, studded with 17 fours and three sixes, demolished the Zimbabwean bowling attack. He and Abdullah Shafique (32*) put on an unbeaten 148-run opening partnership, chasing down a modest 146-run target with a staggering 31.4 overs to spare. Ayub’s innings is only bettered by two other Pakistani batsmen in terms of speed, Shahid Afridi’s record 37-ball century remaining untouched.

Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers restricted Zimbabwe to a paltry 145 in 32.3 overs. Debutant Abrar Ahmed impressed with figures of 4-33, while vice-captain Salman Agha claimed three crucial wickets. Ayub even contributed with the ball, dismissing Sean Williams. Despite starts from several Zimbabwean batsmen, including Craig Ervine, Sikandar Raza, and Brian Bennett, none could convert their innings into substantial scores.

The impressive all-round performance earned Ayub the Player of the Match award. The final ODI of the series is set for Thursday, November 28th.
