Tue Nov 26 13:36:07 UTC 2024: ## Sagar University to Celebrate Dr. Harisingh Gour’s 155th Birth Anniversary with Youth Festival

**Sagar, Madhya Pradesh:** The 155th birth anniversary of Dr. Harisingh Gour, a revered figure in Bundelkhand, will be celebrated with a grand festival in Sagar on November 26th. The celebrations will coincide with the Central Zone Youth Festival, hosted by Sagar University, which Dr. Gour founded by donating his life’s savings.

The day will begin with a traditional morning procession, starting at a statue of Dr. Gour, with participation from local dignitaries, university faculty, students, and the public. The procession will proceed to Dr. Gour’s memorial on the university campus for a tribute.

The highlight of the celebrations will be a large afternoon rally, featuring hundreds of students from the youth festival showcasing their talents through music and dance performances. Local cultural organizations will also participate, creating a vibrant carnival atmosphere. This year’s celebration incorporates unique Bundeli traditions, including the singing of ‘Sohar’ (traditional lullabies) by rural women and performances of Bundeli folk dances. In keeping with Bundeli custom, 500 books will be presented as a gift (‘pach’), symbolizing the occasion.

Dr. Rakesh Soni, the cultural coordinator at Sagar University, stated that the university is planning a significant “Gour Glory Festival” to honor this momentous occasion, expecting 1200-1500 student artists from the Central Zone to participate in the youth festival. The students will perform in traditional attire.

The combined celebration of Dr. Gour’s birth anniversary and the youth festival promises to be a significant cultural event for Sagar and the entire Bundelkhand region.
