CHANDIGARH, INDIA – Early Tuesday morning, two low-intensity explosions rocked Chandigarh, targeting the De’orra restaurant and Sevillee bar and lounge in Sector 26. While there were no casualties or significant property damage, the incident has sparked a major police investigation.
Gangster Goldy Brar, through a social media post, has allegedly claimed responsibility for the blasts, stating that the attacks were in retaliation for the nightclub owners ignoring extortion demands. Chandigarh police have confirmed they are investigating the social media post and are treating Brar’s claim as a line of inquiry. However, senior officials emphasize that no conclusions will be drawn until sufficient evidence corroborates the allegations.
The explosions, which occurred around 4 a.m., involved crude explosive devices—potash mixed with firecracker materials and jute ropes—thrown from a motorcycle by two unidentified individuals. Police described the devices as “country-made bombs” intended to intimidate rather than inflict serious harm. The nightclubs were closed at the time of the blasts, suggesting the aim was to spread fear.
Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage and gathering eyewitness testimonies to identify the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
