Tue Nov 26 14:20:16 UTC 2024: ## 13-Year-Old Cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Age Scrutinized After IPL Auction

**PATNA, INDIA** – Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old cricketer from Bihar, has become the center of controversy after being picked up by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 mega auction for a staggering ₹1.10 crore. While the young prodigy’s talent has impressed many, allegations of age fraud have surfaced online, claiming Suryavanshi is actually 15 years old.

Suryavanshi’s father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, has vehemently denied these claims. He stated that Vaibhav underwent a bone test by the BCCI at the age of 8.5 years, a standard procedure to verify player age. He further confirmed that his son is eligible to play and is willing to undergo another test if needed. The bone test results, according to the father, confirm Vaibhav’s age.

The young cricketer made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy earlier this year, playing for Bihar against Mumbai. His record includes 100 runs and one wicket in five first-class matches, and he also debuted in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.

Despite the controversy, Suryavanshi’s father insists his son remains focused on his cricket, adding that his son’s love for the sport has replaced his previous fondness for cartoons like Doraemon. The Rajasthan Royals have yet to comment publicly on the age allegations. The incident underscores the intense scrutiny faced by young players entering the high-stakes world of professional cricket.
