Mon Nov 25 10:14:21 UTC 2024: ## GPS Error Leads to Fatal Car Plunge in Uttar Pradesh

**Badaun, Uttar Pradesh:** Three people, including two brothers, died after their car plunged into the Ramganga river this morning. The vehicle, a Wagon R, was being navigated using GPS, which mistakenly guided it onto a damaged bridge in Faridpur, Badaun district. The car fell 50 feet into the river.

Villagers discovered the submerged car and alerted police. All three occupants were found dead. The victims, travelling from Bareilly to Dataganj, have been identified as Vivek Kumar, Amit Kumar (both from Farrukhabad), and an unidentified third person.

According to Circle Officer Ashutosh Shivam, the bridge’s front portion collapsed earlier this year due to floods, but this crucial information wasn’t updated on the GPS system. The lack of safety barriers or warning signs around the damaged bridge further exacerbated the situation. Family members of the victims specifically blamed Google Maps and criticized local authorities for the lack of safety measures and incomplete bridge repairs. They have called for an investigation and action against those responsible for the negligence. Police are investigating the incident.
