**New Delhi, November 25, 2024** – The BJP has urged the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner to ensure the 2025-26 budget is presented solely through the Standing Committee, citing the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act of 1957. In a letter, BJP spokesperson Praveen S. Kapoor stated that the Act mandates the draft budget be submitted to the Standing Committee on or after December 10th annually. He highlighted that last year’s process deviated from this procedure.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), currently ruling the MCD, sharply criticized the BJP’s demand, accusing the party of resorting to “new lows” by objecting to the budget’s presentation. The AAP did not elaborate on their counter-argument. The clash highlights the ongoing political tension between the two parties in the governance of Delhi.
