**Latur, Maharashtra:** The Maharashtra Assembly elections in Latur delivered a mixed bag for the Congress party, with both victories and narrow defeats against a strong BJP challenge. While Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh secured a win in Latur city, his brother Dhiraj Vilasrao Deshmukh lost a closely contested race in Latur rural.
In Latur city, Amit Deshmukh triumphed over BJP’s Dr. Archana Patil Chakurkar by a margin of 6,973 votes, securing 112,618 votes to her 105,545. However, in Latur rural, BJP candidate Ramesh Kashiram Karad defeated Dhiraj Deshmukh by a narrower margin of 6,595 votes, garnering 112,051 votes to Deshmukh’s 105,456.
Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh, brother of the two Congress candidates, actively campaigned for them, urging voters to support his siblings. The results highlight the intense competition between the Congress and BJP in the region.
