Sat Nov 23 07:57:50 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Day 1 of Perth Test Against Australia

**Perth, Australia:** India ended day one of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia in a commanding position despite a first-innings collapse. After being bowled out for 150, India’s bowlers took seven Australian wickets for just 67 runs, leaving India with an 83-run lead.

Rishabh Pant played a crucial role in India’s first innings, scoring 37 runs off 78 balls, including one six and three fours, in a vital 48-run partnership with Nitish Reddy for the seventh wicket. This innings was a historic milestone for Pant, making him the first wicketkeeper in World Test Championship (WTC) history to surpass 2000 runs. He now has 2034 runs in 52 innings across 30 WTC matches, at an average of 42.37, with a highest score of 146.

With Australia struggling at the close of play, India will be looking to quickly dismiss the remaining batsmen on day two. If India can bowl Australia out for under 100 and then score another 200 runs in their second innings, chasing a total of around 250 on the bouncy Perth pitch would be a significant challenge for the hosts.
