**COIMBATORE, November 23, 2024** – Seven Coimbatore Rotary Clubs, in partnership with the Rotary Foundation, have donated advanced blood collection, storage, and processing equipment worth ₹67.5 lakh (approximately $820,000 USD) to the Indian Red Cross Society’s Dana Red Cross Blood Centre in Kavundampalayam. The donation significantly upgrades the blood bank, making it one of the most sophisticated in Coimbatore.
According to Nandini Rangasamy, Chairperson of the Indian Red Cross Society, Coimbatore, the new equipment, part of a ₹6 crore (approximately $7.3 million USD) overall investment, will greatly benefit residents of the area and western Tamil Nadu. The upgraded facility boasts state-of-the-art technology.
The donation ceremony was attended by T.R. Vijayakumar, Immediate Past District Governor, and Chella K. Raghavendran, District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair, among other dignitaries.
