Sat Nov 23 07:20:00 UTC 2024: ## AIMIM Shows Mixed Results in Maharashtra Assembly Elections

**Mumbai, [Date]** – The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, is experiencing a mixed bag of results in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. While ahead in Aurangabad East by a significant margin, the party is trailing in fifteen other constituencies.

Early results showed AIMIM candidate Imtiaz Jaleel Syed leading in Aurangabad East by over 50,000 votes. However, initial leads in other constituencies, such as Solapur, have swung in favor of the BJP.

This election saw the AIMIM contest only 16 seats, a sharp reduction from the 44 contested in 2019 and 22 in 2014. Party sources attribute this strategic shift to focusing on winnable seats rather than expanding their base. AIMIM state president Imtiaz Jaleel stated that the party received numerous applications but prioritized key constituencies.

The ruling Mahayuti alliance is currently leading in 226 seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi holds a lead in 54, according to the Election Commission. Numerous exit polls accurately predicted a BJP-led Mahayuti victory, citing the government’s pro-poor and women-centric initiatives as contributing factors. The final results are still pending.
