**New Delhi:** The counting of votes for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections is underway, with results expected throughout the day. The counting, which began at 8:00 AM, also includes the results of by-elections for 50 constituencies, including two Lok Sabha seats.

The Jharkhand Assembly elections, held in two phases on November 13th and 20th, saw a total of 81 seats contested. Maharashtra’s 288-member assembly election was held in a single phase on November 20th.

Results for by-elections in 48 assembly constituencies across 15 states, including three in Karnataka, and two Lok Sabha constituencies are also expected by midday.

Early trends reveal a close contest in several areas. In Rajasthan, BJP’s Revant Ram Dang is leading in the Khinv Sar constituency, while Congress’ Aryan Zubair is ahead in Ramgarh. In Shiggaon (Karnataka), Bharat Bommai is leading against Yassir Khan Pathan. In Channapatna (Karnataka), C.P. Yogeshwar maintains his lead over Nikhil. In Punjab, AAP’s Gurdeep Singh Randhawa is leading in the Derababa Nanak constituency.

In Jharkhand, initial trends suggest a close fight between the INDIA alliance and the NDA, with the INDIA alliance leading in 38 seats and the NDA in 36. In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in three out of four constituencies. Congress’ Annapoorna Tukaram is maintaining her lead in Sanduru (Karnataka). In Uttarakhand, BJP’s Asha Nautiyal is ahead in the Kedarnath constituency.
