**Karad, Maharashtra –** The Karad-North Assembly constituency witnessed a decisive victory for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Balasaheb alias Shamrao Pandurang Patil of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the incumbent, successfully defended his seat against Manoj Bhimrao Ghorpade, an independent candidate backed by the Maha Yuati (MY) coalition.
The election, held on November 20th, 2024, saw a close contest, but Patil secured a significant victory with a margin of 49,215 votes. This mirrors Patil’s 2019 victory, where he received 100,509 votes against Ghorpade’s 51,294 votes. In both 2019 and 2014, Patil secured the seat for the NCP, defeating Congress and Independent candidates respectively.
The results reflect the broader state-level trend, with MVA securing more seats than the MY coalition. The Karad-North constituency, along with others, proved crucial in determining the overall outcome. The election saw 15 major candidates contest the seat. The high voter turnout of around 67.7% (2019) and 68.6% (2014) indicates significant engagement from the electorate. The final results underscore the continued dominance of the NCP in the Karad-North constituency. While the final vote count details for 2024 are awaited, the trend suggests a strong win for MVA.
