**Ranchi, Jharkhand –** Vote counting is underway in Jharkhand’s assembly elections, with early trends indicating a lead for the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led INDIA bloc over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-headed National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM, part of the INDIA alliance, contested 41 of the 81 assembly seats, leaving the remainder to its coalition partners: Congress (30 seats), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) (6), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (4).
