**New Delhi, [Date]** – India boasts the highest number of universities featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, with 65 institutions making the list. However, despite strong representation, no Indian university managed to crack the global top 10.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) retained its top spot globally, followed by Stanford University. The only other Asian institutions in the top 10 were the National University of Singapore (3rd) and Nanyang Technological University (9th). Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands) also secured a place in the top 10, at 7th position.
Anna University led the Indian contingent, securing a respectable 42nd place globally. Other top-performing Indian universities include VIT University (65th), SRM Institute of Science and Technology (84th), KIIT University (92nd), and Delhi University (98th). Several other Indian institutions, including Lovely Professional University, Amity University (Noida), and Jamia Millia Islamia, also featured in the rankings.
Asia dominated the top 100 overall, with 47 universities from 15 countries. India and Saudi Arabia led Asian representation with six institutions each. The United States maintained its strong global presence with multiple institutions in the top 100, including several prestigious universities. The rankings highlight India’s growing presence in interdisciplinary science but underscore the need for further improvement to compete with global leaders.
