**Hyderabad, November 23, 2024** – A Telangana Food Safety task force conducted inspections of nutraceutical manufacturing units in IDA Mallapur on November 20th and 21st, uncovering significant hygiene violations at two facilities.
At Vin Biomed, inspectors found expired raw materials, including food coloring, essences, and Cyanocobalamin. Several products lacked proper labeling, including manufacturing and expiry dates, and FSSAI licensing information. Stocks of Coenzyme Q10 and MK Cocoa Powder were seized due to missing or invalid FSSAI licenses and batch numbers. Further violations included the absence of an internal testing laboratory, stagnant water near the mixing area, inadequate pest control, and a faulty false ceiling shedding particles into the food preparation area. The unit also failed to maintain a food recall mechanism and proper cleaning schedules.
Nuvista Pharmaceutical Private Limited faced similar issues, with inspectors noting damaged walls and ceilings, inadequate ventilation and lighting, and water seepage in the storeroom. Workers were observed without proper headgear or gloves, and medical fitness certificates were unavailable. The unit lacked internal and external audit mechanisms and an effective consumer complaint system.
The Commissioner of Food Safety’s release highlighted the systemic failures in maintaining food safety protocols at both facilities. The violations underscore the need for stricter adherence to hygiene and safety standards within the nutraceutical industry.
