Fri Nov 22 20:50:00 UTC 2024: **Blue Origin Sends Six Tourists to the Edge of Space**

VAN HORN, Texas — Blue Origin successfully launched its 28th New Shepard mission on Friday, carrying six passengers on a suborbital flight to the edge of space. The flight, which departed at 10:30 a.m. EST from Jeff Bezos’s Texas facility, lasted approximately 10 minutes, providing the passengers with roughly three minutes of weightlessness.

Among the passengers were science communicator Emily Calandrelli, who described the experience as deeply emotional, comparing the awe-inspiring view of Earth to the birth of her children. Marc and Sharon Hagle, making their second New Shepard flight, joined Calandrelli, along with three other entrepreneurs: Austin Litteral, James Russell, and Henry Wolfond. Litteral reportedly won his seat through a contest.

The capsule reached nearly three times the speed of sound before the passengers experienced weightlessness, allowing them to float freely and enjoy the view from the spacecraft’s uniquely large windows.

Blue Origin, which has now sent 47 individuals into space, including Jeff Bezos himself, did not disclose the cost of a ticket. The company continues to expand its suborbital tourism program.
