Hyderabad, India – Vishwak Sen’s latest film, “Mechanic Rocky,” directed by Ravi Teja Mullapudi, premiered today. The film, which sees Sen continuing his trend of blending mass appeal with family-friendly narratives, follows the story of Rakesh (Rocky), a garage owner in Malakpet, Hyderabad. Rocky, who lost his mother at a young age, is raised by his father Ramakrishna (Naresh). Despite his father’s encouragement, Rocky abandons his college education to manage the family garage.
The film’s plot revolves around Rocky’s struggle to protect his ancestral garage from Ranke Reddy (Sunil), who is attempting to seize the property. Adding to Rocky’s challenges is a renewed connection with Priya (Meenakshi Chaudhary), the sister of his deceased friend, and a burgeoning relationship with Maya (Shraddha Srinath), a driving student.
While the initial plotline is straightforward, focusing on familial responsibilities and the threat to the garage, the film’s second half introduces twists and turns related to the death of Priya’s brother and the mysterious background of Maya. However, despite these attempts to add intrigue, critics point out that the climax is predictable and lacks originality.
The performances of Vishwak Sen, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Shraddha Srinath, and Naresh have received positive feedback, although some critics noted Sen’s slightly less energetic screen presence. The film’s music and cinematography are deemed average, with the comedic elements considered weak. Overall, “Mechanic Rocky” is deemed a decent watch but fails to stand out due to its familiar narrative structure. While Vishwak Sen manages to carry the film, its predictable plot and lack of freshness might hamper its overall success.
