**Bodh Gaya, Bihar:** Union Minister Nitin Gadkari issued a stark warning Thursday, suggesting the world is on the brink of war, and urged a return to the principles of Lord Buddha to foster global peace. Speaking at the Maha Bodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gadkari expressed concern over the current global climate, stating it “seems to be on the verge of a world war.” He advocated for the teachings of Buddha as a path towards achieving “Vishwa Shanti” (world peace).

Gadkari shared a personal connection to Buddhism, mentioning Nagpur’s Deekshabhoomi, where B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism, and the Dragon Palace temple, built with Japanese support. He also announced a significant government investment in the “Buddha Circuit,” a project to develop 1,600 km of roads connecting key Buddhist sites in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh at a cost of Rs 22,000 crore. Over 1,100 km are already complete, with the remaining sections expected to be finished by early next year. The initiative aims to improve accessibility to important historical locations, including Bodh Gaya, the site of Buddha’s enlightenment.
