Fri Nov 22 11:57:26 UTC 2024: ## Lyon’s IPL Jest Brightens India’s Dismal Start in Perth Test

**Perth, Australia:** India’s opening day in the first Test against Australia in Perth got off to a disastrous start, with their top order collapsing like a house of cards. However, a lighthearted exchange between Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon and Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant provided a brief moment of levity amidst the gloom.

A video circulating widely on social media captures Lyon, approaching Pant at the crease, playfully inquiring about which IPL team would be bidding for him in the 2025 auction. Pant’s amused “No idea” response has become a viral sensation.

The Indian innings was largely characterized by struggles. Shubman Gill failed to score, while Devadatt Padikkal and Virat Kohli managed only 0 and 5 runs respectively. KL Rahul contributed 26 runs, while the middle order also crumbled.

Pant, however, offered some resistance, scoring a 37-run knock before being dismissed. A 48-run partnership between Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy, playing his debut Test, helped steady the ship somewhat after India slumped to 73/6. At the close of play, India were precariously positioned at 129/8. Reddy remained unbeaten on 28, alongside Jasprit Bumrah, who is yet to score. The match continues.
