**NEW DELHI, INDIA** – Royal Enfield has unveiled the Scram 440, a significant upgrade to its popular Scram 411 motorcycle, at the Motoverse event. The new model, launching in January 2025, boasts a redesigned engine and improved hardware, addressing shortcomings of its predecessor.
The Scram 440 retains the neo-retro styling of its predecessor, featuring a similar round headlamp and chunky fuel tank, but with updated 440 decals. A single-piece seat provides increased pillion comfort.
The most significant change lies in the engine. The Scram 440 now features a 443cc single-cylinder engine, a jump from the previous 411cc unit. This delivers a 25.4 bhp power output at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm – a 4.5% and 6.5% increase respectively. A new 6-speed transmission aims to reduce high-speed vibrations.
Hardware upgrades include a reinforced half-duplex split cradle frame for improved durability. Braking is enhanced with a 300mm front disc featuring larger Bybre calipers and a 240mm rear disc, complemented by switchable ABS. Suspension comprises 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock with linkage at the rear. The bike rolls on 19-inch (front) and 17-inch (rear) alloy wheels with tubeless dual-purpose tires.
Royal Enfield positions the Scram 440 as a refined and improved version of its popular Scram model, promising enhanced performance and handling.
