**VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA (November 22, 2024)** – A three-day renewable energy expo showcasing solar power solutions opened Friday in Visakhapatnam, highlighting the Indian government’s push for increased solar energy adoption. The RE-NXT Solar Renewable Energy Expo, organized by the Andhra Pradesh Solar Energy Association (AP SEA), aims to educate the public on the benefits of solar energy and promote the installation of rooftop solar systems.
Rajya Sabha member Golla Babu Rao, recently appointed to the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Renewable Energy, inaugurated the expo. He emphasized the importance of public awareness and advocated for making Visakhapatnam a model city for solar energy implementation. Rao highlighted the substantial government funding allocated to promote solar energy, emphasizing its cost-effectiveness, government subsidies, and job creation potential.
Prudhvi Tej Immadi, CMD of AP EPDCL, detailed the government’s PM Surya Ghar scheme, which offers subsidies for rooftop solar installations. He noted a surge in registrations following an increase in subsidies and highlighted the ongoing efforts to reach the Chief Minister’s target of 10 lakh rooftop solar connections across the state. Immadi stressed the significant potential for rooftop solar installations in Visakhapatnam, particularly in multi-story buildings, encouraging residents to explore shared cost models or loan options.
The expo features around 40 solar power equipment manufacturers, distributors, and traders, along with representatives from SBI and other banks. Organizers expressed hope that the event will significantly increase public understanding and adoption of solar energy solutions.
