**Georgetown, Guyana –** Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a three-nation tour encompassing Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana on November 21st. His trip culminated in Guyana, where he addressed the Indian diaspora, met with Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and engaged in cultural exchanges.

Following his participation in the G20 Summit in Brazil, PM Modi’s visit to Guyana included an address to the Guyanese Parliament, highlighting the strong democratic ties between the two nations. He recalled a previous visit to Guyana over two decades ago and emphasized the growing economic relationship, noting India’s rise to the fifth-largest economy globally.

In his address to the Indian community, PM Modi highlighted shared cultural connections, particularly the love of cricket, and the unique Indo-Guyanese culinary traditions. He also promoted the upcoming Mahakumbh festival in India, inviting members of the diaspora to learn more about Indian culture and values. He planted a tree with President Ali, as part of the ‘ek ped maa ke naam’ initiative.

President Ali, in his own remarks, praised the strong historical ties between Guyana and India, emphasizing the significant contribution of the Indian community to Guyana’s nationhood. The event concluded with the playing of both the Indian and Guyanese national anthems. PM Modi then departed from Georgetown for Delhi.
