**Los Angeles, CA –** The 2024 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) launched its three-day spectacle on November 21st at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with a star-studded night celebrating the best in K-pop. The first day saw a mix of established artists and rising stars take home coveted awards.

Veteran producer and JYP Entertainment head J.Y. Park received the prestigious Inspiring Achievement Award, while rookie groups ILLIT and TWS earned Best New Female Artist and Best New Male Artist awards, respectively. RIIZE also took home the Favorite Global Performer Award (Male). Other notable wins included TWS securing the Best Dance Performance (Male Group) award. Actor Park Bo Gum hosted the first night of the ceremony.

ILLIT, a five-member girl group from HYBE’s BE:LIFT Lab, beat out stiff competition from fellow rookies to claim their victory, while TWS, a six-member boy group under PLEDIS Entertainment, successfully competed against several high-profile groups. RIIZE, a six-member boy group from SM Entertainment, secured their award despite a recent member departure.

The awards, judged on factors including album sales, judging panel scores, and streaming data, also incorporate fan votes, ensuring a reflection of both critical acclaim and popular support. The 2024 MAMAs, themed “BIG BLUR: What is Real?”, continue in Osaka, Japan, at the Kyocera Dome on November 22nd and 23rd, with performances and awards expected from top artists such as IU, Hwasa, BTS members Jungkook and Jimin, Stray Kids, and Seventeen.
