**MUMBAI, INDIA – November 22, 2024** – The counting of votes for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, held on Wednesday, November 20th, will begin at 8 am on Saturday, November 23rd. The Election Commission of India (ECI) will simultaneously announce results for by-elections in 41 other Assembly constituencies across 14 states.
The election saw a contest between the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, aiming for re-election, and the opposition Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, hoping for a comeback.
Multiple exit polls have predicted a significant victory for the Mahayuti. Two recent polls forecast the NDA winning between 178 and 200 seats in the 288-seat assembly, well above the 145 needed for a majority. The MVA, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Congress, is projected to win between 82 and 102 seats. However, it is crucial to remember that exit polls are not always accurate.
Live coverage of the results will be available on NDTV news channel, its YouTube channel, and NDTV.com. Real-time updates will also be available on the ECI website (https://results.eci.gov.in).
