Thu Nov 21 20:08:59 UTC 2024: ## Exit Polls Predict Mahayuti Victory in Maharashtra Assembly Elections

**Mumbai, November 21** – Exit polls suggest a resounding victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly elections, predicting a clean sweep and leaving the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) trailing. The results, however, will be officially announced on November 23rd.

A record 65.11% voter turnout was recorded, the highest since 1995, exceeding the 61.39% seen in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year and the 61.4% recorded in the 2019 Assembly elections. Mumbai, known for low voter turnout, saw an estimated 54%.

While several exit polls point to a Mahayuti win securing between 178 and 200 seats, one poll, Lokshahi-Rudra, predicted a closer contest. The projections vary across different regions, with Mahayuti consistently showing a strong lead. Axis My India, for example, projected Mahayuti to win between 178 and 200 seats, gaining a 48% vote share.

Reactions to the exit polls have been sharply divided. BJP leaders, including Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ram Kadam, expressed confidence in a comfortable Mahayuti victory, attributing it to developmental work and the rejection of the MVA’s alleged “misleading” campaign. They cited the increased voter turnout and the success of government schemes as contributing factors.

However, MVA leaders dismissed the exit polls as unreliable, pointing to past inaccuracies and highlighting their own confidence in winning. Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena UBT) called them a “fraud,” while Ramesh Chennithala (AICC in-charge for Maharashtra) asserted that the MVA would secure a comfortable majority. Other opposition figures, like Pappu Yadav, also voiced criticism of the BJP’s campaign tactics.

Despite the conflicting views, the high stakes of the election, involving a fractured political landscape and high-profile leaders from across the country, underscore its significance. The outcome will be crucial for the BJP’s national standing and will test the INDIA bloc’s strength. The results will also reveal whether the BJP can maintain power through alliances with regional parties. The official results on November 23rd will bring clarity to this highly anticipated election. In the meantime, security measures have been implemented around counting centers in major cities to prevent any disruptions.
