Thu Nov 21 22:39:48 UTC 2024: ## Peacemaker Mostly Canon in New DC Universe, Gunn Confirms

**Los Angeles, CA** – DC Studios co-head James Gunn has confirmed that nearly all of the first season of *Peacemaker* will be considered canon within the newly launched DC Universe (DCU). The only exception? The Justice League cameo in the season finale.

Speaking with IGN, Gunn explained that references to *Peacemaker* and *The Suicide Squad* in the upcoming *Creature Commandos* solidify their place within the DCU timeline. He stated, “The truth is almost all of *Peacemaker* is canon with the exception of the Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of *Peacemaker*.”

The *Peacemaker* season one finale featured a late arrival from the Justice League, showcasing Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ezra Miller as The Flash. This scene, Gunn clarifies, will be addressed in the upcoming second season, premiering on Max in August 2025. Gunn expressed confidence that this approach will avoid confusing audiences, despite using elements from the previous DCEU. He stated his decision was driven by his personal preference, the show’s popularity, and his existing connection to the project.

*Creature Commandos*, premiering December 5th on Max, features a star-studded voice cast including Frank Grillo, David Harbour, and Alan Tudyk, and serves as a launching point for the new DCU. The DCU’s cinematic debut will be *Superman* in July 2025.
