Tue Nov 19 05:12:40 UTC 2024: ## Air Force, IISc Partner to Boost Defence Technology Through AI and Predictive Maintenance

**Bengaluru, November 19, 2024** – The Indian Air Force (IAF) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) to revolutionize aircraft and equipment maintenance. A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on November 18th will see the organizations collaborate on research and development, focusing on improving the reliability and lifespan of IAF assets.

The collaboration will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Digital Twin technologies to develop predictive maintenance strategies and optimize asset planning. This includes identifying problem areas in radar, aircraft, IT, and communication systems. The Ministry of Defence anticipates the partnership will facilitate access to each other’s testing facilities and foster academic exchange, including postgraduate programs at IISc.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost India’s self-reliance in defence (“Atmanirbhar Bharat”), encouraging participation from startups, MSMEs, and other industries in indigenization programs.
