**Chennai, November 21, 2024** – The surging demand for data centers, particularly fueled by the post-COVID-19 rise in cloud adoption, is driving massive investment in the sector, according to Sharad Agarwal, CEO of Sify Infinit Spaces Ltd. Speaking at The Hindu AI Summit 2024, Agarwal highlighted the launch of Sify’s new generation data centers in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
Addressing concerns about water consumption, Agarwal emphasized the industry’s commitment to minimizing its environmental footprint. He stated that clean water is not a necessary component for data center expansion, thanks to advancements in technology. “There is enough technology and enough development happening where we don’t have to rely on clean water,” he said.
