**Bengaluru, India** – Ather Energy has announced a new extended warranty plan, called “Eight70™ Warranty,” offering comprehensive coverage for its Ather 450 series and Rizta electric scooters. Developed in partnership with Reliance General Insurance, the warranty aims to alleviate customer concerns about battery longevity and replacement costs.
The Eight70™ Warranty provides coverage for up to eight years or 80,000 kilometers (whichever comes first), guaranteeing 70% battery health. It offers full protection against manufacturing defects and failures, with no upper limit on claim amounts. Notably, the warranty also covers instances of deep battery discharge due to prolonged periods of inactivity or lack of charging.
The warranty is available as a three-year add-on to the existing five-year battery warranty included with the Pro Pack, costing ₹4,999 (including GST). This applies to both the Ather 450 series and the Ather Rizta.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, highlighted the significance of battery durability in the EV market and emphasized the Eight70™ Warranty’s role in addressing customer anxieties about long-term battery health and replacement costs.
Rakesh Jain, CEO of Reliance General Insurance, stated that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to customer satisfaction and peace of mind within the EV sector. He believes this initiative will foster greater trust in electric vehicles and promote wider adoption of sustainable transportation.
