**NEW DELHI** – Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has secured the media rights for all Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments from 2024 to 2031 in a landmark deal. The eight-year agreement, a significant 70% increase over the previous cycle, surpasses expectations and reflects the growing global popularity of Asian cricket.

The deal, which includes television and digital rights, covers all Men’s and Women’s Asia Cups, as well as Under-19 and Emerging Teams Asia Cups. SPNI’s successful bid reportedly exceeded $170 million, the starting price, beating out other bidders including JioStar. This acquisition significantly expands SPNI’s sports portfolio, adding to its existing rights for the England and Wales Cricket Board, New Zealand Cricket, and Sri Lanka Cricket.

ACC President Jay Shah expressed confidence in SPNI’s ability to deliver “world-class coverage and an immersive viewing experience for fans worldwide.” The previous rights holder, Star India, paid between $80-90 million for the 2016-23 cycle. This new deal marks a substantial increase, highlighting the escalating value of Asian cricket’s media rights. The partnership promises extensive coverage across television, digital, and audio platforms.
