Thu Nov 21 19:15:20 UTC 2024: ## Historic Bikaner House in Delhi Facing Attachment Over Unpaid Debt
**New Delhi, November 22, 2024** – A Delhi court has ordered the attachment of the prestigious Bikaner House, located on the India Gate hexagon, for non-payment of a ₹50.31 lakh arbitral award. The property, owned by the Nokha Municipal Council in Rajasthan, failed to comply with a court order to settle a 2020 award granted to Enviro Infra Engineers Private Limited.
District Judge Vidya Prakash, in a September 18th order, noted that the arbitral award had become final after an appeal by the Nagar Palika (municipal council) was dismissed earlier this year. The court’s decision to attach the property followed the council’s repeated failure to provide an affidavit detailing its assets.
The court has restrained the Nokha Nagar Palika from transferring or selling Bikaner House and has summoned its representative to appear in court on November 29th. The historic building, formerly a palace of the Maharaja of Bikaner, now faces potential seizure unless the debt is settled.
