Fri Nov 22 11:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Anne Hathaway to Star in Amazon MGM’s Adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s “Verity”

**Los Angeles, CA** – Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with its adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling thriller, *Verity*, starring Anne Hathaway and directed by Michael Showalter (*The Eyes of Tammy Faye*). The film, which will receive a theatrical release, follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (not yet cast) as she’s hired to complete the works of the incapacitated bestselling author Verity Crawford (Hathaway). Lowen’s discovery of a secret manuscript unlocks dark secrets about the Crawford family.

Showalter and Hathaway previously collaborated on Amazon MGM’s *The Idea of You*. Nick Antosca penned the latest script, building upon earlier drafts by Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, and Will Honley & April Maguire. The project boasts an impressive production team including producers Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund (Eat the Cat), Showalter and Jordana Mollick (Semi-Formal Productions), Hathaway (Somewhere Pictures), Hoover (Heartbones Entertainment), and Stacey Sher (Shiny Penny). Lauren Levine (Heartbones Entertainment) is executive producing.

This adaptation follows the success of the recent film adaptation of Hoover’s *It Ends With Us*. *Verity*, originally self-published in 2018, became a New York Times bestseller after Grand Central Publishing acquired it in 2021. Another Hoover novel, *Regretting You*, is also being adapted independently.
