BENGALURU, INDIA (November 22, 2024) – The All Living Things Environmental Film Festival (ALT EFF) 2024 is underway, running from November 22nd to December 8th across India. The festival, now in its fifth year, aims to raise awareness about environmental issues through the screening of over 50 national and international films focusing on climate change.

This year’s festival in Bengaluru features screenings at multiple locations including ATREE in Jakkur, Bangalore Creative Circus in Yeshwantpur, Courtyard Koota in Kengeri, and Medai the Stage in Koramangala. The festival also extends to various cities across Karnataka, including Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Hassan, Chitradurga, Davangere, Chamarajanagar, and Mysuru.

ALT EFF Programming Director Anaka Kaundinya highlighted the festival’s selection of informative films designed to inspire change in consumer habits and offer tangible solutions to the climate crisis. This year’s lineup includes two films particularly relevant to Karnataka:

* **A Flaming Forest:** A feature film exploring the impact of exclusionary conservation policies on the Soliga adivasis of the Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Tiger Reserve. Directed by Salman Javeed, Satya Ambasta, and Vivek Sangwan, the film, a product of two decades of collaboration between researchers and filmmakers, highlights the Soliga’s five-decade struggle for their rights and challenges dominant conservation models.

* **Gopi:** A short film by Bengaluru-based filmmaker Nishanth Gurumurthy, which profiles a middle-aged Siddi storyteller. The film explores Gopi’s connection to nature and the challenges she faces as a single mother and honey hunter, weaving a narrative that reflects on identity, ancestral displacement, and the unpredictable nature of life. The film has already garnered recognition at prestigious film festivals internationally.
