Fri Nov 22 09:53:00 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Day 1 in Perth, Australia Stumbles to 6/6 Down

**Perth, Australia:** India seized control on Day 1 of the first Test against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After posting a first-innings total of 150, largely thanks to debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy’s impressive 41, India’s bowlers wreaked havoc on the Australian batting line-up, leaving them reeling at 6 wickets down at the close of play.

Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded the Indian attack, dismissing three key Australian batsmen – Nathan McSweeney, Usman Khawaja, and Steve Smith – in quick succession, including two in consecutive deliveries. Bumrah also claimed the prized wicket of Australian captain Pat Cummins. Marnus Labuschagne, struggling for runs, added to Australia’s woes with a painstaking 2 runs from 52 balls before he was dismissed.

Harshit Rana also made a significant contribution, securing his maiden Test wicket by dismissing Travis Head. A superb slip catch by KL Rahul accounted for Mitch Marsh.

The Australian innings ended in disarray, leaving them far behind India’s first-innings score. The match remains firmly in India’s favor heading into Day 2.
