**Erode, Tamil Nadu (November 22, 2024):** The Athikadavu-Avinashi project, aimed at filling 1,045 water bodies across three districts, has successfully filled 101, Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister S. Muthusamy announced Friday. However, 71 water bodies are yet to receive water.
Addressing the media after a project review meeting, Minister Muthusamy assured that the remaining water bodies would be supplied within 15-20 days. He stated that 0.63 tmc of water has been released over the past 54 days, with 250 cusecs currently flowing in the Bhavani River.
The Minister confirmed that a second phase to the project is infeasible, as the current design only covers the initial 1,045 water bodies. Any expansion would require a new project. A study is underway to assess the feasibility of extending water supply to additional water bodies near those already filled.
