**Hyderabad, November 21, 2024** – Two officials from the Commercial Tax Department’s Malakpet-II Circle were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe. Assistant Commissioner (State Tax) Mahaboob Basha and Assistant Commercial Tax Officer K. Soma Shekar were caught red-handed after Shekar received ₹50,000 from a complainant. The ACB alleges the officials demanded ₹1 lakh to release a freeze on the complainant’s bank account. The bribe money was recovered, and both officers were presented before the Special Court for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally. The investigation is ongoing.
