Thu Nov 21 11:03:05 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Stands Firm on Hosting Entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan

**LAHORE, PAKISTAN** – Amidst ongoing negotiations with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 within Pakistan. The PCB’s stance, which includes government support, leaves the ICC facing a significant challenge, as the tournament’s viability hinges on the participation of India, which is unlikely to send its team to Pakistan due to ongoing political tensions.

To spearhead the event, the PCB appointed Sumair Ahmad Syed, its Chief Operating Officer, as Tournament Director. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence in Syed’s ability to deliver a “memorable” tournament. Syed himself highlighted the extensive preparations underway, including stadium upgrades and ongoing discussions with the ICC, emphasizing the team’s experience in organizing large-scale cricket events like the Pakistan Super League.

The PCB has firmly rejected proposals for a hybrid model, insisting the tournament remain entirely in Pakistan. This decision places the onus on the ICC to find a solution that accommodates both Pakistan’s desire and the necessity of Indian participation in the prestigious event. The PCB is promoting the tournament as a historic milestone and a showcase of Pakistan’s capabilities in hosting world-class sporting events.
